Best places to work remotely in8/24/2023 ![]() Among its best qualities are super-fast WiFi, free WiFi throughout the city (BIG plus!), great walkability in downtown areas, friendly for startups, friendly for women, great LGBTQ+ safety, excellent nightlife and a fantastic array of remote work locations for coworking. So, why base yourself in Seattle for a bit as a remote worker or digital nomad? Seattle actually ranks very high, as far as remote work destinations go. Everyone should try working remotely from Brooklyn, and if you do, use this guide to safety in NYC to make sure your trip goes smoothly with no surprises. Plus, we’ll urge you to check out one of our favorite historic neighborhoods by the water, Brooklyn Heights.Īs a digital nomad, you’ll find fast WiFi in cafes and coworking spaces, welcoming professional communities, clubs and meetups to join and access to all types of activities like athletic activities and social groups. If you can find an affordable place to call home for a month or two (and we promise it’s possible, relatively!), you’ll have a blast as a visiting remote worker living in Brooklyn.Īre there other reasons we recommend Brooklyn as the #1 place to work remotely? Well, there’s excellent access by mass transit (the subway, and the buses!) to the rest of NYC, so you can always be exploring culture in Queens, lesser-known sights in Manhattan and day trips out of town like to Beacon, NY. That’s why we recommend Brooklyn, though, for digital nomads and remote workers: there are neighborhoods with small-town vibes and indie boutique shops, there are mom-and-pop restaurants and cafes to work from, while sitting on a quiet street, and there are beautiful parks filled with locals, and minus the tourists. Now, we’re not haters at all – we’ve both lived in Manhattan!īut Brooklyn is more of a ‘town,’ and each neighborhood has a feel of its own, with fewer skyscrapers bearing down on you and beating out the light… like in Manhattan. Brooklyn, New Yorkįirst, we have to preface this one: Brooklyn is not Manhattan. ![]() We’ve worked remotely from a good number of these US cities, and have had great success using the local environment and various tools for remote work. For some professionals, leaving the US is not an option, especially as employers instate requirements that working remotely must be done from within the US.

Spraying for carpenter bees8/24/2023 ![]() The males are harmless, however, since they lack the ability to sting. Male carpenter bees can be especially intimidating, hovering in front of people who are around nesting sites. Still, their presence can be daunting, especially during spring mating and nest construction. 4: Carpenter bees often repeatedly infest the same areas.Ĭarpenter bees are less inclined to sting than wasps and bees living in communal colonies. Holes in the wood surface also facilitate moisture intrusion, rot and decay.įig. Significant damage can occur when the same pieces of wood are infested year after year. ![]() Female carpenter bees excavate new tunnels in wood for egg laying, or enlarge and reuse old ones. Though seldom as destructive as termites, carpenter bees can cause cosmetic and structural damage. 3: Cross-section of wood showing carpenter bee tunnels and brood chambers. Later in the summer, the new generation of adult bees emerge and forage on flowers, returning to wood in the fall for hibernation.įig. Hatching and maturation occurs over several weeks, with the pollen serving as a food source for the developing larvae. Working back to front, the bee provisions each cell with pollen (collected from spring-flowering plants) and a single egg, sealing each successive chamber with regurgitated wood pulp. ![]() Inside the tunnel, about five or six cells are constructed for housing individual eggs. After boring in a short distance, the bee makes a right angle turn and continues to tunnel parallel to the wood surface. Coarse sawdust may be present below the opening, and tunneling sounds are sometimes heard within the wood. ![]() The entrance hole in the wood surface is perfectly round and about the diameter of your little finger. Fertilized female carpenter bees then bore into wood, excavating a tunnel to lay their eggs. Those that survive the winter emerge and mate the following spring. The adults overwinter individually, often in previously constructed brood tunnels. Biology and HabitsĬarpenter bees do not live in colonies like honeybees or bumblebees. 1: Carpenter bee with shiny abdomen (left), bumblebee (right). (Bumblebees usually have a hairy abdomen with black and yellow stripes.) The bees also have different nesting habits-bumblebees nest in an existing cavity often underground (e.g., in abandoned rodent burrows), whereas carpenter bees tunnel into wood to lay their eggs.įig. BumblebeesĬarpenter bees resemble bumblebees, but typically have a shiny, hairless abdomen. Common carpenter bee nesting sites include eaves, rafters, fascia boards, siding, wooden shake roofs, decks and outdoor furniture. Painted or pressure-treated wood is much less susceptible to attack. Carpenter bees prefer unpainted, weathered wood, especially softer varieties such as redwood, cedar, cypress and pine. These are likely to be carpenter bees, named for their habit of excavating holes in wood, in order to rear their young. University of Kentucky College of Agricultureĭuring the spring, people often notice large, black bees hovering around the outside of their homes. 3070 furmark8/23/2023 ![]() The stress testing with Furmark or Kombustor is for literally maxing the card out and pushing it to it's limits. You should be monitoring the card while doing stuff within your actually use case like while gaming or whatever it is you will be using the card for. It is an actual up to date GPU stress testing program that has more accurate readings. The application that has replaced Furmark is MSI Kombustor. When running a stress test of that nature it's going to max out your usage and cooling, also due to it's age it can have slightly funky results with newer cards. As long as it is less than 85c you're golden as for the rest it's just one of the many reasons Furmark isn't recommended anymore. That is your total temp of all the sensors and the one that should be monitored. ![]() The one you need to watch out for is the one labeled GPU Temperature. Minor bugfixes in the submit score Furmark score RTX 3070 : r/RTX3070. In games it was the same, fans at 100% and throttling badly. FurMark is an intensive OpenGL-based GPU stress test. GPU Clock 1500 but in Control i saw even 1390 My only consern is that my system has some fault and i will only pay for shipping and testing and 2-4 weeks without card. After new year i will send it to RMA but for now i have what i have and maybe it is fixable. The question is how could it happen during shipping (packing was perfect) or maybe its something with my system like bad motherboard mounting or something. The only way for now to GPU works as it should is to suspend it on zip tie and do a UV. Bending GPU in slot solves my problem but not at 100%. I pushed power cables with side panel when i was closing it and GPU bended up a little. But when i was closing the case with Furmark Running sudenly i heard silence, GPU works fine for a moment. FurMark - Recent submissions Radeon RX 570 Series, FurMark (P1080), 1920x1080 GeForce 9300 GE/PCI/SSE2, FurMark (P720), 1280x720 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe. I was devastated, "new" card and already warrantly. I was taking in and out this GPU from PC many times trying to change mounting tension or something but nothing seems to work. When i got everything installed and want to test is everything was throttling almost instantly (pic Furmark 3070 day 1). When i got it was packed very well and was left on desk for 2 more days because it is cold outside and I was waiting for new PSU and monitor. It has warrantly (08.2023 was on auction and 07.2024 on ASUS page), there was screens from Furmark showing how it works and even a video. So temps or power are not the issue.English is not my native language but I will try to describe everything as best as i can. Even tried with GPU OC and hitting 88 degrees C. P.S I am talking of running those other games unlocked. I have plenty of time today and will test if I can get the error to not happen with Vsynch off after removing and plugging in cables and with an HDMI connection. Had to change from my previous 650 W psu because I thought it was dying but then it turned out to be the motherboard that died so I bought this new psu needlessly ouch That is why I am confident it is not the GPU or the PSU. I have tested my GPU in other games like Eleden Ring and Guardians of the Galaxy for hours at a time since I started getting this crash in COH2. Thank you for your reply but it really does seem to be Vsync related and either the newest drivers or my cable or monitor. You can also test the PSU issue by downloading MSI afterburner, set the power limit % to 50% from the stock 100% and max all of the game's settings in the game, in theory it shouldn't crash but it still can based on how bad the issue is.Īlso do not daisy chain the GPU power cables if possible. Try playing a very demanding game that puts 100% stress on your GPU to see if you get the black screen issue. Lowering your settings and or using Vsync will put less stress on your GPU which also pulls less voltage from your PSU, if this is preventing the black screen issue, it could be a PSU issue, they do go bad over time, or a driver issue. Originally posted by zaku49:IT guy here - If your monitor goes totally black and you cannot do anything like access the windows start menu, it isn't the game but either hardware or software related.

(16) The sunlight peeked through the opening as she pushed forward– (15) Marie handed her some money, and picked up pace as she reached the door. (14) The cashier, startled to suddenly see Marie in front of her, took the candy and scanned it. (13) Marie pocketed a fifth of tequila, grabbed a candy bar, and hurried to the front of the store. (12) She didn’t drink, but that didn’t matter Jessica did, and Marie could feel her eyes through the wall. (11) As she blankly looked at the magazines, Marie eyed the cashier, who was now on her phone Marie decided now was the time to make her way over to the small bottles she couldn’t take her mind off. (10) The cashier said nothing, though, and Marie went over to look at the magazines on the rack near the cooler. (7) How would she react to the cashier on a normal day? (8) Should she say “hi”? (9) Marie settled on a friendly nod, and wondered if this movement of her head was enough to distract the cashier from her eyes, which she thought look like a small child screaming for help through the window of a moving car. (6) She was not practiced in deception, though, and when the clerk looked up at her, Marie began to panic. Mess definition8/23/2023 ![]() The choice of explanation determines the nature of the problem's resolution. ![]() The existence of a discrepancy representing a wicked problem can be explained in numerous ways.Every wicked problem can be considered to be a symptom of another problem.Every wicked problem is essentially unique.Wicked problems do not have an enumerable (or an exhaustively describable) set of potential solutions, nor is there a well-described set of permissible operations that may be incorporated into the plan.Every solution to a wicked problem is a "one-shot operation" because there is no opportunity to learn by trial and error, every attempt counts significantly. There is no immediate and no ultimate test of a solution to a wicked problem.Solutions to wicked problems are not true-or-false, but better or worse. There is no definitive formulation of a wicked problem.Rittel and Webber's 1973 formulation of wicked problems in social policy planning specified ten characteristics: Webber formally described the concept of wicked problems in a 1973 treatise, contrasting "wicked" problems with relatively "tame", solvable problems in mathematics, chess, or puzzle solving. Churchman discussed the moral responsibility of operations research "to inform the manager in what respect our 'solutions' have failed to tame his wicked problems." Rittel and Melvin M. West Churchman in a guest editorial Churchman wrote in the journal Management Science, either repeating his own coinage or responding to a previous use of the term by Horst Rittel-the origin is uncertain. Its modern sense was introduced in 1967 by C. The phrase was originally used in social planning. Due to their complexity, wicked problems are often characterized by organized irresponsibility. Moreover, because of complex interdependencies, the effort to solve one aspect of a wicked problem may reveal or create other problems. Another definition is "a problem whose social complexity means that it has no determinable stopping point". It refers to an idea or problem that cannot be fixed, where there is no single solution to the problem and "wicked" denotes resistance to resolution, rather than evil. In planning and policy, a wicked problem is a problem that is difficult or impossible to solve because of incomplete, contradictory, and changing requirements that are often difficult to recognize.
